FDI – a place for 7th & 8th graders
FDI is starting!!! FDI is our Friday night drop-in for 7th & 8th graders. The Youth & Recreation Department is having a registration night for prospective members on January 12 from 5 to 6:30pm at the placePlaceNameRecreation PlaceTypeCenter, Street400 Central St. Membership is $5, and has its privileges. A trip to LaserQuest that night is also planned from 6:30 to 9pm. Cost is $20 for members, $30 for non-members. The goal is to provide middle school age youth opportunities to socialize in a safe, well chaperoned and healthy atmosphere. FDI will take place on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. Events such as LaserQuest, basket tournaments, games and pizza nights are being planned. The next scheduled night is Friday January 26,
from 7 to 9pm, be prepared for an outdoor scavenger hunt!
Afterschool Winter Programs
Join CityplaceSaugus Youth & Recreation for our Afterschool Winter Programs. We offer homework help, snacks, arts & crafts, sports and other fun activities! There will be three programs to register for:
- Grades 1, 2 and 3 will be held on Tuesdays & Thursdays, from after school until 5pm, with extended care offered until 6pm at an additional cost of $15.
- Grades 4 & 5 will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays, from after school until 5pm, with extended care offered until 6pm at an additional cost of $15.
*Both of these Elementary programs begin the week of January 29th and run until March 30, 2007 (8 weeks.) Cost for registration is $35 per child, and spots are limited. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. These programs will be held at the PlaceNameplaceRecreation PlaceTypeCenter, Street400 Central St. There is NO transportation for these sessions.
- Grades 6, 7 and 8 will be held at the placePlaceNameBelmonte PlaceTypeMiddle School, in collaboration with Youth & Recreation Staff, on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2:10 until 5pm. The cost is $20 per child, and everyone must be registered. All registered students MUST report to the Library by 2:10 for Homework Club. Snack will be provided. From there all 6th grade students will go into a directed activity, as the 7th & 8th grade students go into a separate activity. Registrations will be held January 16 & 18 from 2:10 to 2:50pm at the BMS Library. The program begins January
23 and runs until March 22, 2007 (8 weeks)
February Vacation Events
Saugus Youth & Recreation invites ALL families to participate in our February Vacation events. Here is our schedule:
Tuesday February 20 – Disney On Ice: Princess Wishes, cost is $28 per person and includes transportation. The bus will leave the placePlaceNameRecreation PlaceTypeCenter at 11am. Tickets are in Loge Section 4. Spots are LIMITED! Children MUST be accompanied by an adult.
Wednesday February 21 – Movie placeMarathon for ALL 4th to 8th graders. Come and enjoy two family friendly movies. First movie will begin at 12pm. Program ends at 4pm. Cost is FREE, soda and pizza will be on sale!
Thursday February 22 – Snowtubing at PlaceNameplaceNashoba PlaceTypeValley, cost is $20 per person, which includes transportation, tube rental, and a two hour pass. This is open to 3rd grade and up, but we invite 1st & 2nd graders if accompanied by an adult. The bus will leave the placePlaceNameRecreation PlaceTypeCenter at 8:30am and return at 1pm. Bring a bag lunch, or money if you plan to purchase a lunch.
All trips are limited, and are open on a first come, first serve basis.
