As of November 1, 2022, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) has made amendments to its waste ban regulations which includes the banning of mattresses and box springs from the trash stream and requires them to be recycled.

Mattresses & box springs can no longer be put out with you weekly trash pick-up.

The Town of Saugus is researching options for residents to properly dispose of their mattresses and box springs. In the interim please remove your mattress or box spring from the curbside because they can not be picked up.
