Pavement Improvement Projects Throughout Saugus to Begin to Improve Roadway Safety and Traffic Flow

(Saugus, MA) May 28, 2021 – Town Manager Scott C. Crabtree and the Department of Public Works are pleased to announce that a series of pavement improvement projects within several areas of Saugus will soon be underway as an effort to ensure that the Town’s streets are in the best possible condition.

The following streets will be undergoing one or more of milling, overlay paving, roadway reclamation, and/or curb replacements as part of the Town’s road paving plan to improve roadway safety and traffic flow: portions of Basswood Avenue, Bayview Avenue, Ruby Road, Emerald Road, Adelaide Avenue, Beacham Avenue, Hurd Avenue, Western Avenue, Sapphire Road, Summit Avenue, Prospect Avenue, Oceanview Avenue, Dow Street, Adams Court, Norman Avenue, Webb Place, Elmwood Avenue, Altamount Avenue, Aldo Drive, Dewey Street, Pond Street, Beacham Avenue, and Kirkland Street.

The Department of Public Works will oversee the work throughout Town. Efforts will begin in the weeks to come, weather depending. Parking will be limited in work zones during construction, and traffic detours will be established as required to allow for this work to reach completion.

“Ensuring and continuing to improve the functionality and safety of the Town’s roadways has always been of critical importance to this administration,” said Crabtree. “Safe roadways improve traffic flow and reduce congestion and accidents, which will benefit Town residents and visitors every day, making it easier for everyone to get to where they need to be.”

Each year under the Crabtree Administration, the Town of Saugus paves a series of roadways as part of its ongoing annual road paving and repair plan.

Last year, the Town paved portions of Forest Street, Vine Street, Walnut Street, Adams Avenue, Clinton Avenue and Harmon Road, as well as St. James.

The year before, the Town paved portions of Ballard Street, Forest Street, Elmwood Avenue, Fairmount Avenue, Adams Avenue, Orcutt Avenue, Stone Street, Lewis Street, and Landers Street.

The year before that, the Town paved conducted road improvements on portions of Alvah Street, Innis Street, Pleasant Avenue, Howard Farm Lane, Mader Street, and portions of Elm Street, Walnut Street, Fairmount Avenue, Adams Avenue, Plymouth Street, Williams Avenue, and Morris Place.

“It is a top priority of this Board of Selectmen and this administration to continue to make important and beneficial improvements to our community’s infrastructure,” said Town Manager Crabtree. “We are happy to continue to provide these services to our residents and families of Saugus.”

The Town would like to thank residents in advance for their patience and cooperation during this construction project.
