Town Manager Scott Crabtree Issues Heat Advisory and Air Quality Alert for Saugus

(Saugus, MA) July 19, 2020 -The National Weather Service has put out a Heat Advisory and is forecasting excessive heat and high temperatures today, Sunday, July 19th and tomorrow, Monday, July 20th.  Hot temperatures combined with high humidity levels are expected to create dangerous heat conditions.  These conditions may cause heat illnesses to occur.

In addition, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued an Air Quality Alert for today in Essex County.  This means that ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.

Residents are urged to take precautions during the predicted extreme heat. Do not leave children or pets alone in a vehicle, find an air-conditioned space, or other cool spot for relief, and watch out for heat-related illnesses.  Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, and stay out of the sun.

Please check on your family, friends, and neighbors to make sure they are safe during the extreme heat.  Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911.
