How is the Saugus Middle-High School Project being funded?

The Saugus Middle/High School project is being funded in two ways: through the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), and through a successful debt exclusion vote that took place in the summer of 2017. The MSBA has committed to reimbursing the Town of Saugus for 57.72% of all eligible project costs, along with paying for all commissioning services for the project. The reimbursement rate of 57.72% was calculated based off of socioeconomic factors which are calculated by the MSBA using data from the Department of Revenue and Department of Education. The 57.72% reimbursement rate also includes 4.4 additional percentage points (2 for energy efficiency, 1.4 for maintenance, and 1 for utilizing the CM @ Risk construction method).
