Meet our Owner’s Project Manager: PMA Consultants

PMA Consultants is the Owner’s Project Manager for the Saugus High School Project. Based out of Braintree, PMA has provided OPM services for 30 successful MSBA-funded school projects, including North Reading Middle/High School, Tahanto Regional Middle/High School in Boylston, Somerville High School, and Hanover High School.

PMA has also worked on various other large-scope projects, such as the upcoming $50 million Boston Public Library Johnson Building renovation, the ongoing $119 million Dudley Municipal Center project in Roxbury, and the $134 million Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical High School.

PMA was founded in 1971 as a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE). Now, PMA is a nationally recognized project management firm ranked in 2015 as #40 in Program Management by Engineering News-Record. PMA provides OPM services to numerous Massachusetts public and private clients, and recently received its 11th Construction Management Association of America Award for the new Essex Technical High School. PMA’s projects span a diversity of sizes, scopes, complexities and industries.

Chris Carroll, Project Director/Principal in Charge: Chris has 22 years of experience with PMA, and eight years of experience with related firms. He has worked on 13 K-12 MSBA funded schools and seven MSBA accelerated repair projects.

Kevin Nigro, Project Manager/Day-to-Day Contact: Kevin has 11 years of experience with PMA, and 10 years of experience with other firms. He has worked on similar school projects, including at Essex Technical High School, Swampscott High School and playing fields, and Roger E. Wellington Elementary School.

Deborah Shaer, Assistant Project Manager: Deborah has ten years of experience with PMA, and 13 years of experience with related firms. She has worked on numerous similar projects, including Hanover High School, Foxboro Regional Charter School, and Rochester Memorial School.

Brian DeFilippis, Assistant Project Manager: Brian has five years of experience with PMA and 13 years of experience with other firms. He has worked as the project manager on school projects such as the Thompson Elementary School in Arlington and Stratton Elementary School Green Repair.

Joe DeSantis, Senior Consultant: Joe joined PMA as an intern at the Essex Technical High School Project in June 2013. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a Minor in Business Administration, as well as a M.S. in Civil Engineering, both from the University of New Hampshire. 

Since the Saugus High School Project Building Committee’s selection and the MSBA’s approval of PMA in December, the firm has helped the Town advance through the feasibility phase of the Saugus High School Project. PMA was instrumental in assisting the Town of Saugus during the designer selection phase, which resulted in the approval and selection of HMFH Architects.
