Town Manager Scott Crabtree Issues Heat Advisory and Flood Watch Regarding Upcoming High Heat Temperatures and Heavy Rains

(Saugus, MA) July 27, 2023 – Saugus is expecting and experiencing high temperatures and heavy rains over the next few days beginning today, Thursday, July 27, 2023 11:00am until 8:00pm Friday, July 28, 2023.

The forecast is calling for excessive heat and high temperatures for the next couple of days.  Hot temperatures combined with high humidity levels may create dangerous heat conditions.  These conditions may cause heat illnesses to occur.

In addition, flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. Strong thunderstorms today will be capable of producing heavy rainfall, combined with already saturated soil promotes a flash flood threat for the area.

Residents are urged to take precautions during the predicted extreme heat. Never under any circumstances leave children or pets alone in a vehicle, find an air-conditioned space, or other cool spot for relief, and watch out for heat-related illnesses.  Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, and stay out of the sun.

Please check on your family, friends, and neighbors to make sure they are safe during the extreme heat.  Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911.

Please contact us if you need any of these emergency services, including needing a cool spot for relief.  We are here to help.

Anyone in need of emergency services should contact Saugus Emergency Management (SEMA) at 781-231-4175, or call 911.
