CHARM Center/Compost Site Closed Indefinitely

(Saugus, MA) April 9, 2020 – The Town of Saugus announces that the community’s CHARM Center/Compost/Recycling site will be closed indefinitely due to the ongoing COVID-19 concerns.  This is based on the Governor’s stay-at-home orders and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s (MDPH) social distancing and other recommendations.

The Town hopes to open the center up as soon as possible.  A notification will be sent with details when the CHARM Center/Compost Site reopens.  This is a reminder that the Town of Saugus Health Department has received more than 50 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 from the MDPH.  The Health Department is actively investigating and following up on these cases.  The Saugus Health Department strongly believes that additional unrecognized cases DO exist in Town as does in the county, state, and country.  Due to the fact that they are undetected, some of these infected individuals may not be properly isolated or quarantined, which is why the Health Department continues to strongly request that everyone stay at home unless it is essential to go out, practice diligent social distancing, avoid gatherings of more than 10, and to follow the guidelines set up by the MDPH and CDC.

Residents may call Lorna Cerbone at the Solid Waste and Recycling Department at 781-231-4036 with questions or for more information. We thank you for your patience during this time and hope to be open for the season as soon as possible.
