Pavement Improvement Projects Underway to Improve Roadway Safety and Traffic Flow

(Saugus, MA) August 21, 2019 – Town Manager Scott C. Crabtree is pleased to announce that a series of pavement improvement projects within several areas of Saugus are underway as an effort to ensure that the Town’s streets are in the best possible condition.

The following streets are or will be undergoing milling, overlay paving, and roadway reclamation as part of the Town’s road paving plan to improve roadway safety and traffic flow: Ballard Street, Forest Street, Elmwood Avenue, Fairmount Avenue, Adams Avenue, Orcutt Avenue, Stone Street, Lewis Street, and Landers Street.

The Department of Public Works is overseeing the work throughout Town. Efforts began earlier this month and will conclude in October, weather depending. Parking is limited in work zones during construction work, and traffic detours will be established as required to allow for this work to reach completion.

“Ensuring the functionality and safety of the Town’s roadways is always of critical importance,” said Crabtree. “Safe roadways improve traffic flow and reduce congestion and accidents, which will benefit Town residents and visitors every day, making it easier for everyone to get to where they need to be.”

Each year under the Crabtree Administration, the Town of Saugus paves a series of roadways as part of its ongoing road paving plan. Last year, the Town paved Alvah Street, Innis Street, Pleasant Avenue, Howard Farm Lane, Mader Street, and portions of Elm Street, Walnut Street, Fairmount Avenue, Adams Avenue, Plymouth Street, Williams Avenue, and Morris Place.

The year before, the Town paved Parsons Avenue, Stockade Road, Reservoir Avenue, Horton Avenue, Myrtle Street, and parts of Vine Street, Adams Avenue, Aberdeen Avenue, Oakwood Avenue, Appleton Street, Seminole Avenue, and Forest Avenue.

“It has been a long-standing goal of this Board of Selectmen and administration to continue to make important and beneficial improvements to our community’s infrastructure,” said Town Manager Crabtree. “We are happy to continue to provide these services to our residents and families of Saugus.”

The Town would like to thank residents in advance for their patience and cooperation during this construction project.
