Town Manager Announces Appointment of Facilities Engineer to Oversee, Operate New Grades 6-12 Middle-High School Building and Systems, All Other Municipal Facilities

(Saugus, MA) August 11, 2020 – Town Manager Scott C. Crabtree is pleased to announce the appointment of Godfred Mbengam as the Town’s new Facilities Engineer. Mbengam will oversee and operate all of the complex technological systems at the new, grades 6-12 Middle High School.  Mbengam, who recently began his new role, will also oversee and operate all other municipal buildings in his new role.  

Mbengam offers a wealth of experience in the field of facilities engineering. He most recently worked as the Facilities Engineer for Saint-Gobain Research North America. Prior to that, Mbengam served as the Stationary Engineer at Cogentrix Energy Power. He also worked as an Engineer for Sheraton Hotel and an Assistant Project Manager for Exelon Corporation. In addition, Mbengam managed facilities with the Massachusetts Trial Court and Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Mbengam holds a Bachelor of Science in Facilities Engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He also spent one term at sea on the T.S. Kennedy, during which he conducted facilities maintenance on the ship.

In addition, Mbengam holds the following certifications: HVAC Technician, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean Air Act Section 608, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)-10 General Industry Safety and Health.

As Facilities Engineer, Mbengam will oversee the planning, organizing, directing, and control of all aspects of Town and School facilities.  He will lead the Building Maintenance and Custodial Departments for the Town of Saugus.
